chigusairoQuick easy song translation time. My goal was to not overthink things and come up with a "natural-sounding" translation. I like some parts, but others...well, I'm not willing to spend more time on it so here we go!
そろそろいかなくちゃ - スガシカオ

なんだかどうでも よくなって
午前中サボってしまった
みえすいた言い訳をしたら
よけい滅入(めい)ってきた
Somehow or other I just stopped caring
And skipped out on this morning
By making an obvious excuse,
I just became more depressed.
昨日の夜 彼女が食べてた
ポテトチップスの袋
テレビを見ながら飲んでた ビールも
そのままテーブルに…
The bag of potato chips she ate
And the beer we drank as we watched TV
Just left on the table from last night…
さえない日々だとは思う
いろんなこと考えちゃいるけど
These days are gloomy, I think
But, it makes me think about lots of things
“電話くらい よこせ”と 家族はいう
話せることは 別に何もないけど
“つまらない”と よく彼女はいう
もうすぐ正午 そろそろいかなくちゃ
My family says, “At least call us”
There’s nothing to say, really
She often says, “It’s boring”
It’s almost noon. I’ve gotta get going soon.
ドアを開けると 冷たい空気が
ギュッと 耳をつかんだ
ノブに手をかけたまま
ぼくは息をすいこんでみる
Opening the door, the cold air
Firmly grasps at my ears
With my hand still on the knob,
I try holding my breath
すれちがった 痩(や)せこけた犬が
ぼくの方を見て ニヤッと笑った
白い息が わざとらしいくらい
いちいち絡(から)みつく
A haggard dog meanders past
It looks at me and laughs with a smirk
My white breath, as if on purpose,
Little by little coils around me
週末になれば もうすこし
いろんなこと マシになるかな
When next week rolls around
I wonder if things will be a little better
“あいしているの?”と 彼女はいう
いつもうまく 返事はできない
“シケた顔をするな”と 友達はいう
タメ息は もういい そろそろいかなくちゃ
She asks, “Do you love me?”
I’m always unable to answer well
A friend says, “Cut out that long face”
Forget the sighs, I’ve gotta get going soon
“大人になれよ”と 誰もがいう
ぼくにしか見えない ユメはもういい
“ゴメン”と 口ぐせのように ぼくはいう
言い訳は いい そろそろいかなくちゃ
Everyone says, “Grow up”
Forget about the dreams only I’ve seen
As if it’s my catch-phrase I say, “Sorry” (1)
Forget the excuses, I’ve gotta get going soon.
Note:
(1) I feel like I should be able to come up with something for "kuchi guse" that's better than "catch-phrase." "Habit of speaking?" "Habit of saying?"
